Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.

From the start, some have complained that "the blonde, plastic doll conveyed an unrealistic body image to girls."

But now, Mattel recognised it and change the this plastic look. Now Barbie dolls have new body shapes from the real life. Now they can be tall, short, curvy, black and disabled called Barbie Fashionistas.
